Material creation in 3DS max

I do not know how big work would it be to change but it would be nice if in 3ds max the materials textures would use standard map slots. (Like in the "good old" days)

The overview of the materials and the textures would be much more clear. We could make sure that for each LOD (if you assign different material to the LOD) would use the same texture for example.

In the example you see the material at the top is the current flightsim material, you cannot see which textures are assigned.

Below that you see a material which uses all slots and meant to use it on the upper LOD.

The bottom material is on a lower LOD, occlusion-roghness-metalness and normal map is unassigned but the rest (albedo and emissive) is re-assigned.
