MIN DRAG VELOCITY

Hello,

Still trying to understand how the sim handles drag and I wanted to know more about the SimVar mentioned in the title of this question.

How is that speed calculated by the sim?

Thank you.

Hello @boufogre

It's a simvar from FSX and it computes a minimum drag speed in level flight, clean configuration (flaps and gear up) and assuming a density in standard conditions at 10000ft.
Not sure how it was used in the first place but I think we can consider this one as deprecated as the flight model has changed a lot and this value is no longer representative of the actual minimum drag speed.

PS: I haven't forgotten about your drag questions. I have planned another review soon.

Regards,
Sylvain

Merci!

I guessed so as I calculated it in an Excel file to compare with the flight model. It is actually still accurate.

It would be nice if instead of a true airspeed, it would show a CAS in knots and for actual conditions :)

I started making observations with the new drag curves and I already have a few observations to make. The negative other_drag is definitely due to trim deflection.

I'll make a detailed report on my other question.
