TACAN audio/volume

We've got a couple of aircraft that are equipped with TACAN and whilst the navigation aspects all work fine, I'm a bit confused about the audio ident functionality. There are TACAN volume events and variables, and I've managed to use those successfully, but I can't find any reference to events and variables for toggling the audio ident.

I initially assumed that TACAN had no audio ident functionality but why would it then have volume control?
