Helipads without an airport

Hi,

according the SDK 0.12.0.0 you can set helipads, but I have tested this now, it works on the worldmap but not when you try to set an helicopter on the pad.

The questions are:

1. How can I set a Helipad only (ie. hospital landing pads, rescue landing pads, ...) ... only means, without any reference to an airport because many of such helipads are not on an airport and had there own ICAO code?

2. In the SDK the width/length attribute is required, but what when I have a cycle? A cycle has only a diameter ... so what values should be set than?

3. The altitude attribute is what altitude? The altitude of the pad (means on an possible building, or any construction) - or is this the value on the ground?

4. The heading is what? The heading of the "marker" on the ground?

5. How can I set the pad start-position?

Thanks for your help and your answers ...

Thank you,

Richard

I’ll add to this the following:

It appears to me that you can only add a heliport if you specify an airport. You cannot use aprons and painted lines unless you specify an airport. You can make the airport closed BUT the ICAO code must still exist.

After all that, whilst all this appears in Dev mode, none of these items added appear when actually flying there.

Hence the need for a greater number of characters for identifying the 'airport'. We are now limited to 5 characters. 16 would be much better an allow an unlimited number of non-conflicting airport ids, not limited to generally accepted ICAO designators. ID and ICAO should have always been separate things.

Hi,

there are some more limitations and none implement features. But the main point is the missing possibility to add a helipad without an airport reference and thats a huge design issue.

I'm curious about the answer from ASOBO (when I get one - currently I don't see any difference in the "efficence" as they wrote as argument for the switch, between the previous and current platform).

Cheers

Richard

Hello,

For now, and like it was back on FSX, you can't create helipads outside of airports. That's because in the code, helipads are coded as a type of airport.

You may also get information about helipads on the documentation:

SDK Documentation (flightsimulator.com) (should link directly to the proper page)

If it lacks details, please let us know and we'll manage to add them.
