This simvar - AP_PITCH_REF_SET - seems to indicate that the autopilot can be commanded to a specific pitch. I have tried using it with no success. Am I wrong about its purpose? If not, how is it used?

I've been able to set the pitch reference with that eventID but the input values are strange. Inputting a value of 15000 resulted in a pitch of approx. 10 degrees. That is from a WASM gauge.
