Custom Weather: Thunderstorm

Hi All,

Quick question on the thunderstorm options, in particular, Cell and SuperCell elements. Our XML section for the storm are as per SDK documentation:

<ThunderstormIntensity Value="1.000" Unit="(0 - 1)">
</ThunderstormIntensity>
<ThunderstormCell>
<Cell>
<Latitude>5.918344</Latitude>
<Longitude>116.043231</Longitude>
<Radius value="10000" unit="m"></Radius>
</Cell>
<SuperCell>
<Latitude>5.918344</Latitude>
<Longitude>116.043231</Longitude>
<Radius value="4000" unit="m"></Radius>
</SuperCell>
</ThunderstormCell>

This should put a monster storm with a Super Cell directly over WBKK RW02 approach, which is what we're trying to do for a custom landing challenge.
What we are finding is that with the Cell and SuperCell specified, there's no storm, absolutely fine weather. With them removed and only using the ThunderstormIntensity, there's a thunderstorm when the aircraft spawns at 16,000", but, by the time the aircraft reaches the runway the storm has faded somewhat, which is really the opposite of what we're trying to achieve.

Are we missing something?

Thanks

Chris

I think think that, just like exclusions, the <ThunderstormCell> tag were never actually implemented, so presets that use it won't be loaded and you'll just have clear weather.

Hopefully they'll eventually release a weather/preset system that allows more advanced definitions like this.

Hello @TheSecretStudio

We were able to reproduce the issue and a developer will have a look at it.

@FlyingRaccoon to also add, SuperCells are now moving away from the user when they move. My colleague gave this example on the forums:

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/supercell-weather-always-moving/511138/2

I see the bug has been noted, but wondered if any progress is made?

Hi @TheSecretStudio - the bug that was fixed is the fact that supercells were moving with the player's plane. I am not 100% sure the original issue you described in the first post is exactly the same one but it may well be.

Best regards,

Eric / Asobo
