Hello everyone,
I’m currently working on a home-built Cessna simulator and need to create a new cockpit model for the project. It’s been approximately 15 years since I last used 3ds Max, so I’m in the process of getting reacquainted with the software.
I performed a clean installation of 3ds Max 2026 (trial version) along with the latest version of the MSFS SDK. Unfortunately, the SDK does not appear to be functioning correctly. Upon launching 3ds Max, I receive an error message indicating a problem related to a Python script. I can provide a screenshot of the error for reference:
3ds Max Error
To troubleshoot, I downloaded and installed 3ds Max 2024, which I understand is the last known version compatible with the current SDK. However, when attempting to launch 3ds Max 2024, I encounter another error—possibly related to having the 2026 trial version installed. It seems that 2024 refuses to start.
I also tried installing 3ds Max 2023, but experienced the same issue: the application fails to launch and displays a generic error message stating that an error occurred and the program will close, without specifying the cause.
Has anyone successfully managed to run 3ds Max 2026 with the latest MSFS SDK? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Daniel
