Bug description: We are exporting the PC-12NG cockpit as a submodel using the 3dsmax exporter. The 12NG cockpit has a multi-material for the PC-12NG specific assets (cockpit walls, panels etc) and has some parts that are shared with the PC-12 Legacy: pedals (calls a “Common” multimaterial, rear walls (calls the “Cabin” multimaterial) and some other parts that use their own materials.
The problem I am getting is that, when exporting from 3ds, the panel reverts to materials that are part of the “Legacy” and not the NG, resulting in bad graphical artifacts and missing pieces.
- Thommen chronometer decal reverts to the “Legacy” texture instead of the new one for the NG
- Various decals (screws, text) use the Multimaterial from the Legacy, resulting in wrong rendering. 3ds max assignment is correct.
- Decals flickering and disappearing
- (unmarked) Yoke cap which uses an entirely new material shows wrong texture on it.
- Various parts don’t export. I.e. landing gear handle.
I have looked into the Material IDs to make sure no “blanks” are present, as pointed out in this topic. It is worth noting that the same issues started appearing with another aircraft project that we are working on, but with the 2024 exporter.
This is what it looked like in March 2025:
Private attachments: Sent a build and 3ds max file.
Edit: I suspect that the material UID might be the culprit. Shared UIDs seem to resolve to the older model’s material. I am testing this now and will report back.
