As reported on the May development stream, career mode is only available for Marketplace aircraft. The reason is that career compatibility can only be verified through the in-game Marketplace.
While understandable, there is no quality control on aircraft at all in the Marketplace, so why is career mode different? Instead, I feel this is limiting developers that want to develop for career mode and list their products outside the MP as well.
My suggestions would be one of the following:
- Allow Career compatibility outside the MP at the developers’ responsibility. A utility similar to the SDK’s “career tool” can be run on FS2024 start-up to verify whether the aircraft in the Community are indeed career compatible.
- Allow developers to create “career mods” for their aircrat that are verifiable and can be sold through the Marketplace only. The drawback here is that developers not in the marketplace will either be left out or need a middle man.
