We’re struggling a bit to configure a ‘Tow Plane’ in MSFS2024 in that setting the towplane power or thrust strong enough to move a fully ballasted glider on the ground is resulting in a unrealistically fast climb rate.
What we’re trying to do is create a working towplane so we don’t have to bother Asobo too much with this issue, but lack any real understanding of how the engine.cfg / flight_model.cfg parameters affect the ‘Tow’ behaviour.
Our key question is is it possible to set a parameter in the tow plane config that will independently affect the climb rate after takeoff vs. the ground run? We need a much stronger pull to get the glider moving, but then don’t want a very steep climb.
The ground friction is higher in MSFS2024 from 2020 and this has impacted the glider tow.
