First of all you must understand the COMP Map is 3 seperate Layers ..
Simply making it darker will not work
I suggest checking the RED Channel, It should be MOSTLY White with details for shadows ..
If it is an Overall Grey then it WILL Make the material darker (As if in shadow )
The GREEN Channel is for Roughness / Glossyness
and the BLUE Being for Metallic or Reflectivity
Any chance you’ve opened your KTX2s in something like Photoshop, and then reexported those to PNGs that were later built back into KTX2s by the Package Builder?
If so, that would be the issue. When a KTX2 built by the sim is re-opened, there is an sRGB/Linear difference, and the image appears “washed out”. This will affect ALBD, COMP, and NORM. If that image is then used later on without applying a correction, it will appear washed out in the sim, along with the effects on the COMP/NORM.
I’ve attached below a comparison, where the left side shows KTX2s with no correction (washed out), and the right side which shows KTX2s with an sRGB to Linear correction applied (not washed out).
Applying the sRGB to Linear correction is not 100% perfect, as some data is lost in the compression.
Not sure if this is what you’ve done in this case or not, but if it is, this should set you on the right track.
