Blender Exporter 5.4.2 not exporting GLTFs

Blender Version: 3.6.12
Exporter version: 5.4.2

Tried to re-instlal the SU3 updater - stopped working too now in this .blend file (worked yesterday evening)
Frequency: Consistently

Severity: Blocker

Bug description: As already explained in the related thread:

@Boris I don’t know if you have read what I previously sent before you told me to make a new bu report, but like I said it’s similar to the other report where the gltf doesn’t export properly.

So today I updated to the latest version of the plugin and the SU4 SDK. I was struggling with getting the export to work and couldn’t figure out why. At first the .bin didn’t export which means no changes I made where visible in the sim.

After 2 hours of tinkering, multiple plugin re-installs later and also blender restarts nothing seems to have worked and I am unable to export from my .blend file that worked fine yesterday evening with the old exporter.

I now made a new blend file and tried to export from there and the new empty blend file works fine.

Now back in my blend file I actually want to export and now the .bin is exporting but the gltf isn’t anymore. However, as mentioned above, all 3 (bin, gltf, and XML) files are exporting fine from a new .blend file.

Any tips on how I can resolve this? It is a groundpoly file and I cannot simply make a new .blend file. I need this to work again from this very .blend file that worked fine yesterday. I am completely lost. Any tips would be appreciated

for more context, addon wise and setup wise the current file that doesn’t work and the new blend file are setup identically

as you can see the asphalt layer doesn’t export, but now the .bin does which it didn’t an hour ago

here is a test export form a new .blend file

Everything is there. I suspect that the default profile is also corrupted for me in this blend file? Is there a way to get this default profile to work again?

Also a custom preset which I just created doesn’t work. Here, it only exports the bin and no XML or gltf

I now copied back the old GLTF which successfully exported yesterday evening. With that in it now overwrites the old one so I now have all 3 files back.

however, when I now tried to build it I get this error. Funnily enough only for this layer and all the other layers are fine

I also tried to delete the .bon again (since the exporter does now generate bins in this file, in order to overwrite the old one because the bin has a byte request mismatch. But even with the new bin it still gives me the same error.

EDIT

So i now manually copied in the byte size from the layer0 bin into the gltf and now got an error for another layer. Then I realised all the gltf have a byte mismatch compared to their bin file. I don’t know what’s going on and I can’t work. I would really appreciate help as I don’t know what to do anymore. Here an example of layer 10, which give me an error now. But like I said all the gltfs have a byte mismatch, presumable because they are overwriting old gltf, but not exporting correctly as previously stated. If I delete all the old gltfs no new ones are generated…

Now that I manually changed the bitmap size in the GLTF the package does not build itself anymore. The fspackage tool just randomly closes during hte build process.

Repro steps: I don’t know how to repro it because I don’t even know what caused it. The only thing I did was to install the latest SDK and plugin

Attachments: Blender file sent in private content.

EDIT:
I just did a full clean re-install of the latest SDK and exporter and still ahve the same issue. But just for good measure I tried a full celan reinstlal of everything MSFS related to see if it would fix it. No luck unfortunately.

I am not getting any issues currently with the new 5.4.2. however I am exporting an aircraft.

They did do updates on folders with some relative paths. Maybe an issue with you using the same folder “//”

Try ../texture

Just a guess.

Yeah I have had a few ppl trying to help out and they also said it’s working for them. And, in fact, it is also working in the clean blender file like I showed above so I don’t suspect it’s that exporter that is broken, just some sort of bug that’s going on and I can’t figure it out.

I will try clearing all the paths and setting them again to see if that has some sort of effect.

It seems to me your blender install has an issue.
I was able to export it textures and gltfs.
Try again with the latest 3.6 or 4.2 LTS to see if it’s better.

If, for some reasons, your file is corrupted, you can always create a new one and use the blender append function to copy the object from the original corrupted blender file.

I’m afraid we can’t do much more for this issue..

Boris

Ok, yeah to be honest I figured it was something to do with this specific file being broken on my PC since the new exporter works for others and also for my other files. It’s just weird that it bricked itself after I installed the new exporter which was why I thought it could have something to do with it and there might be a bug that you would be able to find. All signs at first lead to the exporter causing issues but I think this is just a rare case of the updating process might have bricked that specific file.

I have heard 4.2 causes some issues for some so I will try a clean install of 3.6 again. If that doesn’t work then I will have to copy everything to a new file like you said.

Thanks for investigating and checking if it works for you. At least now we know the exporter is fine and I know where to start fixing things.

Best,
Michael.
