Camera API

Edson,

I want better flyby views and free-cam options. Let’s hope Asobo can deliver an option for this soon!

This Camera API must be made available in MSFS so the community can finally have better camera control inside and outside the aircraft

Bump this up as well, we need this for a proper immersion.

Just like with weather, this also seems like a totally ignored area by the team, no matter how many people want it and how much it improves the overall immersion and experience. The more I see things like this ignored, the more it feels like the whole platform is drifting towards general arrogance towards users. This community existed before MSFS was a thing, it is a decades-long community that the current developers fed on. Stop ignoring and start addressing what is being asked. This one in particular is such an easy win to have, but the fact that this is not done, makes me question even the true reasons behind the weather API unavailability. You do so many things right, and then just totally ignore areas that others can do better, and shut it off to them.

I’m so disappointed we haven’t had updates about this yet. Such crucial functionality is still lacking from the sim and the developers are simply sweeping it under the carpet for the past 3 years! I can only hope it’ll come as an easter egg with MSFS 2024, but I’m losing hope in that.

I have been waiting for this addon since the launch of the sim. It would be such a great immersion addon, especially in airliners. Please approve this access to the camera API!!!

As Flight Simulator enthusiasts and users, we know the value of immersion and seamless control in our virtual flying experience. Having ChasePlane available on MSFS2020 would be a game-changer. This add-on offers unparalleled camera management, giving us the ability to easily switch between internal and external views, adjust angles on the fly, and fully customize our perspective of the aircraft and environment. The intuitive interface and smooth transitions that ChasePlane provides would greatly enhance our experience, especially when setting up cinematic shots, performing detailed inspections of aircraft systems, or simply enjoying a more dynamic view of the scenery. For those of us who value realism, precision, and immersion, ChasePlane is an essential tool that MSFS2020 desperately needs to make the simulation feel complete.

A very nice presentation of MS2024 yesterday !
But still nothing for Chaseplane.
Maybe it’s a taboo :no_mouth:
For my part, I confirm, we need Chaseplane

I would be best not referring to a single add-on when requesting a Camera API, because it might give the impression it’s only needed for that single add-on.

There’s a lot of add-ons that could benefit from it, and they already used the Camera API in P3D, so they had to cut features in the MSFS version.

Any updates on this?

We have worked on this in the past few months but the feature (which should really be called a POC) needs to be ported from the 2020 codebase it was developed on to the 2024 one - which we know will create other issues that will need to be addressed prior to release.

Unfortunately right now our focus is on fixing the platform rather than adding new features so I cannot provide an ETA as to when the Camera API will be made available.

Apologies for this - we know it’s been requested since the launch of 2020. :frowning:

Best regards,

Eric / Asobo
