Bug description:
In our Douglas DC-6 product we offer two variants, -A and -B.
The -A variant works fine. In the -B variant, most animations in the cockpit are severely degraded / choppy / low FPS. Simple toggle switches, for example, and rotary switches are extremely lagged. Same with the Captain and FO window opening animations.
Interestingly, NOT ALL animations are affected. The gust lock is smooth. Throttles are smooth. Panel shake is smooth.
Further note: in experimentation we have discovered that these choppy animations become smooth if you zoom out as far as possible from them and make them “far away”. In other words, if you move your eyepoint as far to the Captain’s window as you can, and mousewheel-zoom OUT as far as possible…the “far away” FO window animation will be smooth, and “far away” FO-side switches will be smooth.
Things we have tried:
- Rebuilding the whole package in MSFS2024
- Used the latest 1.2.2 SDK
- Tried before and after SU1b (no change)
Repro steps:
- Enter the DC-6A (cargo variant). Note that cockpit switches operate and animate smoothly.
- Enter the DC-6B (passenger variant). Note that overhead toggles and rotaries are very choppy and laggy.
