Cockpit materials looks poor in MSFS2024 when compared to 2020

Version: 1.5.27.0

Frequency: Consistently

Severity: High

Context: Cockpit rendering differs between MSFS2020 and 2024

Bug description: Rendering of cockpit materials still seem to look flat/dull when compared to MSFS 2020. Its as if the Normal maps are being rendered at a lower resolution despite the texture settings being the same for both sims. E.g Default high settings (no dynamic settings enabled)

**Repro steps: **
Compare the cockpit rendering of any aircraft that’s shared between sims.

Unfortunately there’s not much we can do from such a report. At a minimum please provide:

  • A list of aircraft that you think are suffering from these issues.
  • Screenshots from both versions (same aircraft, same place, same time, same weather preset), potentially highlighting zones that don’t look correct according to you in MSFS 2024.

The rendering of the cockpit (and the environment actually) does differ between MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 indeed - this is due to photometric calculations now being used for lighting, and is done on purpose. However, it shouldn’t look “dull” or “poor” as you seem to describe - and I don’t think this is something players have been complaining about since 2024 launched, but maybe I missed other reports.
