Bug description:
I’m working on a custom package that replaces some core-level XML files from a base sim package (fs-base-*). The modifications are applied through the standard SDK workflow, and the package is built specifically for Marketplace deployment using the latest tools. There are no errors reported during export.
The package works flawlessly when placed inside the Community folder — the sim loads and runs as expected.
However, when submitted via Draft Repo or Pre-release, and enabled through the content manager, MSFS 2024 freezes at exactly 17% during startup. The entire loading screen freezes, including the background video and the spinning icon, and the simulator must be closed forcibly (even XBOX).
What has been tested:
Using and not using PackageOrderHint
Using GloballyOverridenBaseSimFiles with both filenames and full paths
Clean boot with deleted Community and StreamedPackages folders
Starting the sim in Safe Mode (which loads successfully)
Enabling the package through My Library, exiting, and restarting → freeze
Removing the package → sim starts normally again
This issue does not reproduce on Microsoft’s side, but happens consistently in my environment (including on multiple test accounts)
Hi,
I have looked at it and it seems stuck when it tries to read biome xml files. The biome system doesn’t support package streaming yet. It needs to be fixed.
Sorry I can’t give you a timeline. The biome system needs some changes so it will not be ready for SU2.
I have no workaround for you, your package will only work on the community folder.
