[DevMode 1.4.4] Cannot place vertices for Polygon / PaintedLine / Apron (Ctrl+click not working)

Since SU3 (DevMode update from 1.3.4 to 1.4.4), it is no longer possible to place any vertex for Polygon, PaintedLine or Apron objects in the Scenery Editor.

  • The issue occurs even on a brand-new project.
  • The issue persists after deleting DevMode.xml.
  • The issue persists in windowed or borderless mode, with or without “One-click placing”, with either left or right Ctrl key.
  • No keyboard binding conflicts (right Ctrl is unassigned, left Ctrl tested).
  • The Add button activates correctly, and the object shows up in the hierarchy — but no vertex can be placed in the 3D view.

This worked perfectly in MSFS2020 using the exact same hardware and workflow.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Launch MSFS2024 SU3 (DevMode 1.4.4).
  2. Create a brand-new project via DevMode.
  3. Add a simple airport (Apply Flatten on or off — same result).
  4. Open Scenery Editor, select Polygon, PaintedLine or Apron.
  5. Click Add, then try to place the first point using Ctrl+left-click (or direct click if One-click placing is enabled).
  6. Expected result: a vertex is placed.
  7. Observed result: no vertex appears, no visible action.

Test configuration

  • MSFS version: 2024 SU3 – DevMode 1.4.4
  • Platform: Microsoft Store
  • Display mode: Windowed / Borderless window
  • Input devices: Standard USB mouse (no third-party drivers)
  • Cockpit interaction mode: Tested both Lock and Legacy (Historical) → same result
  • DevMode.xml: Deleted and regenerated → same result

Impact

It is currently impossible to use the native Scenery Editor for any ground tracing work (aprons, painted lines, exclusion polygons, etc.).
Developers are forced to use Blender or third-party tools, which breaks the intended SDK workflow.

Try to change the keyboard setting to 2020 Transversal when working in the Scenery Editor
