The idea in a nutshell: Allow developers to run a tool (similar to the old “resample.exe”) to generate custom elevation data from a geoprocessed tif file.
Currently, there is nothing about creating custom elevation in the SDK apart from adding terrain profiles to polygons or using the “Add Heightmap” button which only allows the user to paint to modify terrain.
When I first pressed this button, I was expecting to upload a heightmap image, not brush terrain - so it’s a misleading button.
It would be good to have the option to upload an actual georeferenced tif image
Currently, someone has made a tool using the MSFS SDK to generate terrain but are SELLING it, $180 per year, per license.
