EFB in bezel is lower quality than widget

Version: 1.5.27.0

Frequency: Consistently

Severity: Blocker

Bug description: The bezel is low quality and does not match the widget. If I increase the pixel size everything gets too small. I figure this is a bug and need to be addressed. Or am i doing something wrong. I tested this in my project with my own bezel and the DA62 with the default bezel and both have low quality. Customers are not going to accept this. Hope there is a solutions or a future fix.

[EFB]
size_mm = 558,831 ; 558 x 831
pixel_size = 558,831 ; 2.5x resolution
orientation = vertical
texture = EFB_TABLET_CLICKABLE

Hello,

This is by design.

The correct pixel size to use is 468,696.

Any reason you are not using the included attachment Asobo_Tablet_Generic_10_9 or Asobo_Tablet_Generic_8_3 ?

Boris

I got the size from you guys to use 558,831. I will try both sizes.

We already had our own bezel that animates and mounts from the side pocket to the window suction mount. Will the default bezel make the graphics look better? If yes then I would try it. But we found loading the default DA62 and looking at the bezel is also lower quality than the widget. The image I shared is not comparing the the default bezel. That is the widget VS a bezel. You can clearly see the low poor quality. Not sure how this is by design as most users will not use the widget 2D screen.

P.S. Also how to turn the unit off and on so it’s not always on. If there is no logic for that I could use a vis tag to hide the screen and show a blank one behind it.

Here is the new size_mm value and with two different settings for the pixel_size.

size_mm = 468,696
pixel_size = 936,1392

size_mm = 468,696
pixel_size =468,696

This is really bad.

This is the widget. You can clearly see the low quality.

One thing I probably could do is increase the pixel_size 3X as long as this does not have a huge hit on the sim. I found the crash issue was only happening with the GT debugger running for 20 minutes. So far just using the aircraft I have no issues. So I am going to release the product with

size_mm = 468,696 ; 468,696
pixel_size = 1404,2088 ; 1404,2088 3x resolution
This is not as good as the widget but closer. :thinking:

I decided to check 4x and this is perfect!

size_mm = 468,696 ; 468,696
pixel_size = 1872,2784 ; 1404,2088 3x , 1872,2784 4x

Hello,

Thank you for the feedback.
I have forwarded your answer to the devs and I will let you know when I have some news to share.

Hi @Boris

Thanks again for looking into this. I found increasing the pixel_size did help on the quality but then it completely reduced the scale of our work as seen here. The fuel levels are super thin now. So for now I am forced to increase the pixel_size slighly and still have some poor quality as we can’t easily change all the scale now.

I tested the default bezel today and it holds the correct size because it uses a static size and is not changeable. I hope to see the quality increased as this is slightly too low in pixel quality. But the Widget extremely clear.

Now that the default bezel locks the size options it makes no sense why these do not match what the widget has! I mean we spend the time to make the layout for either and they will never scale the same. So this is for sure a bug and needs addressing. I think the bezel is actually using medium/vertical although it does not say that.
