EFB thumbnail_shape.png isn't documented

Version: 1.1.10.0

Frequency: Consistently

Severity: Low

Context: The EFB renders thumbnail_shape.png as the background for editing load stations, but documentation doesn’t specify anything about this file.

Bug description:
No documentation is available for thumbnail_shape.png, but it is used in the samples.

Repro steps:
Looking in the Cabri sample there is a thumbnail_shape.png, of size 1920x1080.

  • Must it be this exact size?
  • Is this file created by hand or is there some tool?
  • Is there a correct place to put it so that every livery picks it up without duplicating the file?
  • Is there anything else to know here?

(Note that I added a background color)

Hello @davux3

This is in the pipes. I will let you know when the documentation is available.

Thanks Dave and Sylvain.
I am waiting on this too.
Also the documentation for the EFB on selecting the default pax weight as 170 with one click instead of 1 lb default, and typing in 170 for each station.

In case it helps, you can create this thumbnail in the aircraft capture tool (actual menu item highlighted)
image

A few things to now about this, even if you create an image that matches the dimensions, it will load in the empty tab but not show in any of the others (which is a shape because the tool itself does a terrible job of creating proper outlines)

Hopefully Asobo allows us to upload custom images here at some point but for now you can use the menu option to create it and place it in your thumbnail folder along with the others

Sorry I did not see this post today but only added my suggestion here in the ideas.
Add thumbnail_shape info to the SDK EFB and the SDK Thumbnail section - Ideas - MSFS DevSupport

For those looking for info there is some here.
