Version: SU/AAU/WU XX - 1.5.27.0
Frequency: Frequently
Severity: High
Context: Custom scenery for KMKJ (Mountain Empire) - occurs when loading flight normally.
**Bug description: I have areas in my scenery where I have excluded roads, and they are still showing up when not loaded into the scenery editor.
-
With “debug OSM roads” selected, you can clearly see them there with the lines representing them.
-
When I load into the scenery editor, they are excluded properly. If I then EXIT the scenery editor, they will still be excluded properly.
-
This is affecting several airports I’m working on
-
EDIT: THIS is an interesting piece of information… when I start the sim, if I zoom all the way into the airport on the world map before starting my flight, the roads will be excluded properly. You can see whether or not the roads are there from the world map (because of the ugly green streaks that they leave during the winter time). Zooming in to the airport will cause them to be excluded, even after starting the flight. What a bizarre bug.
-
Another couple hints: If I load in at a DIFFERENT airport and fly in, the roads are excluded. Even more strangely, if I start the sim and load in at the airport to see the roads are not excluded, if I back out to the main menu and then load back in….. you guessed it, the roads are excluded!
Repro steps: Start the sim and load up and check roads are not excluded. Open in scenery editor and they will be.
Moving to MSFS 2024 section.
Hello @JonRainmanATC
Can you post an example of Polygon with its properties from your scenery xml file that produces the issue please?
Regards,
Sylvain
Looks like this might be what you’re asking for?
This excludes the “road” leading into the hangar parking lot.

So far, I get the expected result and the road is excluded right away.
When the problem occurs, can you enable the Debug → Terrain → Debug shapes debug and check if your exclusion polygon is displayed?
Pinging @darwikey: do you have other suggestions that could help identify the issue?
Regards,
Sylvain

Apologies for the late reply. Yes I can see the polygon with debug shapes active.
Here are two screenshots, one showing what it looks like when I first load in, the other after I open the airport in the scenery editor, both with “Debug OSM roads” enabled.
If I close the scenery editor, the roads will still be properly excluded until I restart the sim.
Hello @JonRainmanATC
We cannot replicate the issue unfortunately.
Could you please follow section 3 of these guidelines, and provide us with your project?
Regards,
Sylvain
Hi, i got the same problem
. i already made “polygon with” “remove roads” and until now, work ok, but now, when i am in editor mode, i not see anymore traffic, but when i restart and use the compiled scenery, i see again the cars
if i open project and load scenery in the scenery editor, traffic is gone
but, once i use the compiled version of the scenery, traffic get back
I can give the files if you want
SOMETHING under the hood in the SU4 update this morning fixed this. It’s no longer an issue, everything is working fine.

Hello @jackLyon5
Do you still have the issue on SU4 1.6.33.0?
I do not witness the issue either with your package.
Regards,
Sylvain
WELL… it’s back to doing it again.
I can send you a package either later this evening or as soon as I can.
No i not see with SU4, it’s seems work ok now with SU4
Please do. I am still unable to replicate the issue so far.
Regards,
Sylvain
Im having the same issue as well, gone with poly exclusion for street lights and traffic in dev mode, can confirm with osm debug, then back after compiled and dropped into the communityfolder. Were you able to find anything out since the above issue was talked about?
Regards, Nate.
Hello @element93,
No, I’m still looking for a way to replicate the issue.

Sylvain

Thanks for the reply, I think next im going to see if the load order makes a difference like zzz-projectname in the community folder placement.
Renaming my scenery package with ZZZ in front fixed it for me, it was a loading order.
Could you please share a version of your package with us.
I’d like to investigate what this is conflicting with.
Regards,
Sylvain
Sure, I’d be glad to help, I haven’t shared one before so I’m not quite sure how lol
