External Scenery Editor Feature Request

Created this post to express not only my own but also of the majority of the Scenery Developers to get a proper working smooth Scenery Editor out for MSFS just like WED (World Editor) for X-Plane.

The MSFS SDK Scenery Editor itself doesn’t qualify when you want to get in to depth and into realism, its too basic in terms of doing groundwork you can’t get into the precise details like you can inside WED. A lot of Scenery developers who want to implement detail into their sceneries are using 3rd party softwares like Blender, 3DSMax and UnrealEngine because there is no proper Scenery Editor inside the Simulator.

I don’t want to go into depth what part is good what part is bad, but moreover into the part on getting this settled as a feature request. So that we can develop just like for X-Plane on any low end laptop or device anywhere!

Hello,

Great idea. You might want to change the category of your post to “Ideas”. This way we can vote for it.

Cheers

I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you’re asking for, and I’m going to imagine that the folks at Asobo are confused as well?

What features are you missing that you can’t do when you use Blender in combination with the Scenery Editor built into the sim.

You state that people use Blender and 3DS max. That’s on purpose and working as designed by Asobo. It seems like you’re asking Asobo to create a 3D modeling tool?? Why would Asobo take time to develop a whole new 3D modeling tool when those tools are available, which is what it seems like you’re asking for?

I’m only a very amateur scenery developer, but I’ve been using SDK Scenery editor for years now, and there’s not much I can’t do to create accurate airports, other than the fact that Terraforming doesn’t work in photogrammetry areas. But I don’t think there’s any way around that extremely serious deficiency of the sim, whether you would use a third party or the internal sim editing tools.

In any event, I’m seriously asking to understand what you’re asking for. I’ve never used WED and have no idea what it can do that can’t be done with the SDK Scenery Editor in combination with Blender or 3DSMax.
