While investigating a problem that some users believed it was related in one
of sceneries (it wasn’t), we found a problem in one of the airports included
in the UK World Update, namely EGPR - Barra Airport. This scenery use the same
GUID b5a61705-97ef-4cc3-a058-4eb7743564cf, which is normally assigned to the
“SampleMyBox” from the SDK, to create a custom object named “EGPR_11 Sign”
This results in users that have both the UK World Update and the
“SimpleScenery” package from the SDK seeing a big “11” sign on the left side
of RWY 14 at MYNN, instead of the big checkered Box from the Sample. I suggest
replacing the GUID at EGPR - Barra, because I’m sure copying it from the SDK
sample was an oversight and would confuse lots of users trying to follow the
sample.
Hello. Thanks for letting us know virtuali We are fixing this. Regards,
Sylvain
This is still a problem. Is there an updated fix? Regards Martin Clarke
Hello @MazerMart Do you mean you still have the
problem with that particular object? From what I can see, its GUID has been
changed and is no longer conflicting with the SDK sample:
Regards, Sylvain
Where is the scenery shown in your picture coming from? Is it one you are
working on? Can you check what the GUID of this object is in both packages?
(using the BGLExplorer tool provided with the SDK) Drag and drop the
microsoft-airport-egpr-barra\scenery\microsoft\Barra-Airport\modelLib.BGL file
on BGLExplorer.exe and it will display the list of objects with their
respective GUID. “EGPR Signs_11” object should have the GUID
3a744daa-2bdc-423a-46ff-3563995860b1 As far as I know, the GUID has been
changed when the issue was reported so I’m surprised we still have conflicts
with this.
Can add my two cents? I have a the checkered cube in Nassau and a lamp post,
and surprise (not really!), they are from another package that I have in
community (that because of people habit to clone the sample folders when doing
their scenes) (Nice place you choose to make your sample!) So, in the debug
lods, make sure that package name is selected instead of guid… About
duplicated guids, now that SU10 make them standing out in the console, there a
quite a few of them coming from mostly UK update ( but could be others) Will
those duplicated guids affect at any time further updates? I mean, those are
clearly from developers reusing their own assets in multiple packages, is this
a good and allowed practice ?
Good suggestion. I installed the Marketplace MYNN scenery and I don’t have
this sign so you are right, it must come from a different package. @MazerMart
Let us know where it’s coming from when you have checked it using the Debug
LODs tool.
