Having trouble with creating polygons

Hello, I am in the process of creating a new airport for MSFS, following a tutorial I found online. However, I am running into issues when trying to make the polygons. So the thing is, I know how to add a polygon and was able to make one that covered my airport; however, I was not able to save the scenery because, for some reason, a second polygon gets created that I can’t delete no matter what I do, even though it’s unlocked. Basically, what happens is that sometimes I will try and make the first point by pressing CTRL and clicking on the map, but the editor acts like there is a point already somewhere else and is already drawing a line to the point I want to place, even though it should be the first one. If I go ahead and try to complete the polygon and press enter, it will show up as a new polygon in the list, and I still have a red polygon in the list that I can’t delete.

Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong and how to fix it?

Thanks

That happens when you use “one-click” to create polygons. Once you complete the polygon with double-click, it automatically starts a new one, highlighted red. Simply un-check the one-click checkbox and it will disappear.

Thanks, that did the trick. Also, I have a few more questions that hopefully you can help with.

So from what I understand, the user aircraft should be close to the airport when editing for objects to appear, and I’m wondering if there’s an easy way to move the aircraft to the position of the airport. I know you can slew the airplane but since the airport doesn’t actually show in the sim yet, it’s a guessing game to make sure I’m in the right position.

The other thing is I created a runway and want to add an ILS, however I am confused about what to put for the magnetic variation. Basically, I’m not sure how I go about figuring out what to put there.

Lastly I just realized that runway is longer than what fits in the blue circle for the airport is this an issues and if so how do I go about making the circle bigger.

Thanks

Start anywhere for development using latitude and longitude,

Thank you, I will give this a try. I did try clicking on the map to create a custom departure point, but it only gave me the option to start in the air and will try with the coordinates instead.. Also, do you know whether the runways will still show up just fine if part of them extends past the blue circle of the airport, or if there is a way to increase the size of the blue circle?

Thanks

Thanks, I will try that. Also, can you help me with what to put for the magnetic variance for the ILS. I am looking at a website that shows the area has a declination of +11, so would that be what I put for the magnetic variance? And as for the heading, do I need to enter the magnetic heading or the true heading? Once I complete the ILS, I should be done with the airport, so I shouldn’t have any other questions. However, if I do, I can make a separate post, as I know these issues aren’t related to the original topic.

For ILS and heading, you need to enter the true heading and the magvar corresponding to the location in which you build your airport. The simulator will calculate the difference to show the right magnetic heading in the plane.
