HUD and rain / ice visual distortion

Hello

Following the topic: Rain is distorting HUD textures when viewed from inside aircraft

We encounter sever distortion on our HUD when the windshield is subject to icing or rain.

As you can see, we can barely distinguish the readings on the HUD making the airplane unflyable in severe icing or raining conditions

Windshield material is windshield V2 (FS24) => Draw order 50
HUD material is “Standard” => Draw order 100

Thank you

Edit: We can’t share that package for now but you can experience the same behavior with our Jaguar FS24.

Hello @AZP

On the version of your package I have access to, this is not what I observe.
The material with a draw order of 100 is named Raf_Windshield_DO100 and has the ASOBO_material_windshield_v3 extension.

It’s rather tricky for us to track the issue without having a look at the unoptimized gltf.

You definitely have an order issue though. On the Jaguar, we can clearly see the windshield is drawn last:
Edit: the icing/rain is a post effect applied after all transparent material have been rendered, so possibly not related to draw order setup.
I don’t have an explanation yet as to why your config would lead to a different result than the F/A-18, we’ll investigate further.

Sylvain

Hello @AZP

Could you please send us a gltf from the Jaguar cockpit as outputted by Max/Blender, (so prior to package build, not the one outputted in the Packages folder).

You’ll find instructions on how to provide us with it privately in section 3 of these guidelines:
How to report a bug or crash - [MSFS 2024] Bug Reports - MSFS DevSupport

Hello

PM as just been sent with the requested file, thank you.

Best regards

Theo

PS: Sorry for the misunderstanding, the material used is indeed Winshield V3

Hello @AZP

This is fixed in SU6 1.8.8.0.
You will now have something similar to the F/A-18E.

Sylvain

Hi,
