With the first anniversary of MSFS 2024 approaching, we would like to gather your feedback on the new platform and the challenges you have faced transitioning from MSFS 2020.
The survey covers the main topics, but you can also use the open feedback sections to share any additional input relevant to your work as a 3rd-party developer.
This survey is hosted by Xbox Research, Microsoft’s gaming research team, and your responses will be shared directly with the devs.
If you’d like to participate, head to the survey below: Microsoft Flight Simulator developer survey
I am a long-time enthusiast of your platform, which I have always regarded as a symbol of unity among cultures, passions, and people from all over the world. It is precisely this universal spirit that compels me to write to you today, with deep regret, to express my disappointment regarding the decision to exclude certain countries and regions from the MSFS SDK survey.
I understand that there may be legal or regulatory reasons behind this choice. However, I cannot help but feel that such exclusions risk turning a tool designed to celebrate flight and freedom into a platform that reflects geopolitical divisions. MSFS is not just a simulator—it is a global community, a place where the passion for aviation transcends borders and differences.
By denying entire populations the opportunity to contribute—even through a simple survey—you undermine the sense of inclusivity that has always defined the project. For this reason, I do not feel personally motivated to participate in the survey, as it no longer reflects the values of openness and shared passion that first drew me to MSFS.
I urge you to consider how these decisions may be perceived by those who, despite living in complex contexts, share the same enthusiasm and desire to be part of this community.
With respect and trust in your commitment to an open and inclusive platform, I thank you for your attention.
As a long time developer of Farm Strip scenery (since FS4), I think you are making the design side more complicated than necessary. I have designed over 800 strips for the UK and Ireland but since you have introduced the (to me) pointless lod system, if I wish to create any more new sceneries I would have to update all my 2000 plus scenery items I have ammased over the years and add an lod to them. I haven’t enough years or the desire to do that. Please keep things simple it has worked great for 2020 don’t over complicate thing. KISS!
Another thing I have noticed in 2024. You tick multiplayer in the main menu but then you have to tick it again in `Flight Conditions’! It took me a while to work that one out and it was only by going online did I find out. Many other people seemed to be having the same problem. remember KISS!
