MSFS 2024 SU4 SDK changing/adding polygon properties after saving

Steps to reproduce:
1.: Create an Objects Polygon
2.: Assign a “Biome override” within “Vegetation override” without “Enable vegetation mask override” checked

Expected result: When saving the file, I expect these polygons to retain their properties when I reopen the project
Actual result: When reopening the project, all vegetation polygons created as noted above now have been “disabled”, because the “Exclude” checkbox has been automatically applied. If I select “Enable vegetation mask override” when creating these, they are saved (and reopen) properly. However, I do not want to “Enable vegetation mask override”, because I am adding large polygons over areas where I only want the “existing” trees replaced without adding new ones. I also have a couple of large “Material” polygons I am using as a green mask over portions of the valley. However, when the file is reopened, those now have an “exclude vegetation” property added to them as well every time, even though they were never classified as vegetation.

This issue was not present prior to the SU4 upgrade.

Since sending the first message, I reinstalled the sim and SDK, created a new project with only one polygon assigning a “Biome override” within “Vegetation override” without “Enable vegetation mask override” checked, and the same problem exists as I described in the initial message.

I also tried applying a new “Material” texture (color) in the new project, and on reopening the project, it had been changed from “texture” to “vegetation texture” as it did in the previous project, adding an “exclude vegetation” property.

The ability to disable the “Enable vegetation mask override” while adding vegetation will be a terrific new feature for correcting large areas of vegetation, without having to carefully trace around individual groves of trees. At the moment, however, it appears to have introduced new issues into the SDK.

Hello

I’ve converted the private message you sent us into a proper bug report, as we don’t provide support via private messages (please refer to the section 2) bug-reports, here).

A fix will be included in the next update (SU5).

Regards,
Boris

Sorry about that. I thought I’d followed all the rules for submission. Just for clarity, isn’t the only way to submit files for review through a private message? At the time, that seemed to be the only way to do that.

Thanks,
Carlyle

Something else I have noticed is if I “lock” polygons, they will be “unlocked” when I open the project again.

Thanks,
Carlyle

Hello @ScoffingPigeon7

You’re right. The only way to send us crash reports, projects, etc. is through private message. However, you should have created a bug report first (one public bug report topic, and then a private message if needed with the files/content required to reproduce or analyze the issue).

I apologize for converting your private message directly, I got mixed up.
During the process, we checked that no private information was shared.

Next time, I’ll ask the user to create a new topic rather than converting a PM into a public post.

The lock state on scenery objects is indeed temporary, as are the buttons to hide the element and to hide the overlay in Edit mode.

If you think this should be implemented in the sim, please create an Idea post in the Idea section.

Regards,
Boris
