Passengers No Longer Boarding After SU6

Version: 1.8.14.0

Frequency: Consistently

Severity: High
(Low - quality of life, workflow optimization, rare enough to not impact production, etc…
High - critical but workarounds are available, important feature not working as expected, frequent enough to impact production
Blocker - prevents from working on the project, prevents from releasing the product)

Bug description:

Passengers are no longer boarding through either the ATC boarding method or by manually loading passengers through the EFB.

We first noticed this issue in our Learjet 35A, where requesting passenger boarding through ATC does not result in any passengers boarding. Manually loading passengers through the EFB also no longer boards them.

We then tested the default CJ4 and confirmed the same issue occurs there as well.

Since this behavior is reproducible in both our aircraft and the default CJ4, we believe this is an SU6 regression rather than an aircraft-specific issue.

Please confirm whether this is a known SU6 issue. We are looking forward to a fix.

Hello,

We tested the CJ4 and your aircraft and we couldn’t reproduce the issue.
Could it be caused by another addon in your community / mylibrary ?
Did you test at multiple airports ?

I hardly have any addons and this was reported by customers and I simply confirmed it.

We tested at LEBB and LFLB and some other airports and could not reproduce the issue (Using SU6 1.8.14.0).

We tried with both the CJ4 and your aircraft with the EFB either loading immediately or after contacting ATC.

I did not see any topic on the forums about this.
How many of your customers are facing this issue?
Do you have more precise repro steps ? (Airport name / Parking number / Variant / Livery etc)

@Boris
FYI, just in case these help with troubleshooting the OPs issue:

There is this bug report from SU5, but DementedCorn327 was unable to replicate.

There is also this bug from SU5:

Thanks @SmotheryVase665.

@Flysimware Do you reproduce the issue on PC or only Xbox (or both ?)
Is your character setting on low ?

I will log the issue as I reproduce it when I have the setting “Characters Quality” on “Low” in both PC and Xbox.

Let me know if you have different repro steps please.

First of all, apologies for the confusion.

This report originally came from a customer complaint, and when I went to verify it on my own system, I was able to reproduce what appeared to be the same issue.

What I had forgotten is that I recently changed the Character Quantity setting while recording a video. A ground service character was getting in the way of the shot, so I temporarily turned Character Quantity down to zero and then forgot to restore it afterward.

I normally run the sim with my graphics settings on Ultra and rarely touch that particular setting, so when I later tested the customer’s report, it did not occur to me that Character Quantity was still disabled.

After your message today, I checked the setting again, restored Character Quantity, and retested everything.

I can now confirm that the passenger/co-pilot is working correctly on PC.

I also tested the aircraft on Xbox today and confirmed that the passenger/co-pilot is working correctly there as well. I had not previously tested this issue on Xbox, so as far as I can tell it was likely working correctly there the entire time.

So this topic can be closed. There does not appear to be an issue with the simulator or our aircraft in this case. The behavior I was seeing was entirely caused by the Character Quantity graphics setting being set to zero.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction, and apologies again for the false report.

Thank you for the feedback,
I will leave the topic in bug_logged state as it’s now tied with an issue we have in our backlog about the setting Characters Quality.
