Polygon Placements in sim do not match preview in Scenery Editor [FIXED in SU6]

Version: 1.7.35.0

Frequency: Consistently

Severity: Blocker

Context: Polygons in scenery editor do not match build package

Bug description:

I am currently trying to use polygons to add displacement textures (since we still can’t do that via Projected Meshes…). I can place the polygons precisely in the scenery editor, however when I exit the scenery editor and rebuild the package, the edges/nodes of the polygon move significantly, and inconsistently, it feels as if their coordinates are being stored in a low precision value. Note they do round-trip properly (i.e. I can place it in the scenery editor, save and close, then reopen the scenery editor and they remain in the correct place, so this is an issue with the sim, not the scenery editor saving coordinates with too low of precision).

Notice the difference between the first set of photos (in scenery editor), and the 2nd set (after saving, closing, and rebuilding).

Any advise or feedback that this is indeed a bug would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Repro steps:

  • Add a polygon, preferably with many nodes for a smooth curve (so the issue is more visible). Screenshot so you have a reference.
  • Close the scenery editor and build the package
  • Notice the polygon’s nodes have shifted inconsistently, as if they are loosing precision.

Well known issue,
but you are lucky, we finally have a solution in SU6!
you might want to try the beta to confirm if it solved for you too

Oh, awesome, thanks! I will give that a try and report back.

I can confirm updating to the SU6 beta and rebuilding the project with SDK v1.7.2 fixed the issue. Thank you so much!
