This is how the water under the bridge looks in FS2020:
This is how the FS2020 package looks in FS2024:
The polygon used to remove the original FS2020 bridge has not performed the same way in FS2024. It has the following Properties in the 2020 SDK v 0.24.3
It appears that the polygon is not working in FS2024 the same way as in FS2020.
Hello @drrybuoytoo
Can you tell me which package it is please?
Regards,
Sylvain
It is the New York Bridges.
Thanks.
Hello @drrybuoytoo
This is not the result of a regression on how your package is handled and rendered.
World data has been updated in this region, water masks in particular.
Nothing specific to MSFS 2024, we had the same kind of issue in MSFS 2020 where new world updates would change how some sceneries look.
We don’t have a way to handle this on our side, you will need to add water polygons covering this imagery to get a result equivalent to your package prior to world data modifications.

Sylvain
Hello @FlyingRaccoon
Yes, I agree water mask issues ocurred with world updates in 2020 and required project changes to fix.
I wish this issue was that simple but unfortunately there is more to it. I have applied a water mask to the Macombs Bridge in 2020 SDK, built the package and loaded it into 2024.
Please review the attached photos:
2020 project with water mask in 2024 sim
2020 project with water mask in 2024 SDK but only built in 2020 SDK
In the SDK photo you can see the water mask poly highlighted and the bridge imprint has been covered as it should be. You can see the blue color of the water mask (the color of 2020 water and the 2024 water are not the same, but that is less of an issue).
No Modifications were made in the 2024 SDK, only viewed.
However in the 2024 sim you can see the 2020 water mask has not worked correctly and the imprint is still visible.
I have tried both water mask materials, Water and Watertest, and neither work in 2024. I normally use Watertest as it is more authentic and Water is too perfect.
Please review again.
Thanks
Robin
Hello @drrybuoytoo
You don’t want a polygon with water material but a water polygon (“Water” checkbox).
Combined with a TIN exclusion polygon, this water polygon with type set to “water” will cover the part you’re trying to remove.

Sylvain
Hello @FlyingRaccoon
Thanks Sylvain.
This is how it looks in 2024 after following your instructions, Type “Water”, not water material, and exclude TIN poly.
Definitely an improvement, but why can I not replicate your image?
I have experimented with other settings eg: no vegetation, exclude All including TIN, but this is the best I can get, and it does not replicate the 2020 appearance.
What else can I try?
Why does the water material not work? Is that a bug to be resolved?
Regards
Robin.
Hello @drrybuoytoo
Water polygon has a falloff so you need it to be larger than the area you want to cover I think.

Sylvain
Hello @FlyingRaccoon
That worked! Made it much larger.
Thanks for your help, very much appreciated.

Robin.
