Rain on Grass & PM cuts into landscape?

Version: 1.5.3

Frequency: Consistently

Severity: High

Marketplace package name: N/A

Context: Inside Dev Tools while building airport

Bug description: Rain splatter can be seen on the grass as if it’s falling on asphalt ( see video ). Also - I’d like to know if the edge artifact where my Projected Mesh meets terrain looks normal. Looks like texture tearing and I cannot figure out if this is a bug, or something i’m not doing right.

Repro steps: Add any PM to an airport and look at the edges where it cuts the high spots, and adds at low spots. I expect it to just follow the existing terrain contours an not level it.

Hello,

What’s the result when you add a polygon with an exlude secondary heightmap ?

Hi Boris. Around the entire airport ?

Yes for example, where you want to exclude the secondary heightmap.

From the documentation :

OK thanks - that worked ! Sorry for posting unecessarily. The issue with the rain splatter being visible on grass is still valid though !

Thanks for the prompt response.

No worries

Hello @pdeswardt,

For me this is working as expected on both SU3 and SU4 when having the package in the community folder ? Do you also have this behavior in other airports ?
Maybe it’s more related to a graphic setting..

As this is not related to the devmode or sdk I think you will have more luck in the forums

Tagging this topic as by design.

Hi Boris . But there is rain splatter on the grass in your screenshot ( or are they those little white flowers that are by default a part of grass ? i can’t clearly make out ). Surely the rain splatter should not happen on grass - it is soft - rain does not bounce off of it usually - it gets absorbed ? I’m confused.

I have not checked other airports yet. I will do.

Or, are you perhaps referring to the terraforming issue i mentioned in the above post that is not happening for you?

Maybe it could bounce when it’s raining heavily at high speed (I’m not an expert in this field ^^).
In any case, this should not be reported on DevSupport but rather on the Forums.

Boris

OK thanks, no worries
