Hello,
I am developing “Flight Companion”, consisting of a free Windows .NET 8 connector for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and a companion iOS application.
The Windows connector currently requires the following unmodified SDK files:
SimConnect SDK\lib\SimConnect.dllSimConnect SDK\lib\managed\Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.dll
The connector would be distributed to end users through GitHub Releases. It would only communicate with a legally installed copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
Could Microsoft/Asobo please confirm in writing:
- Are these two DLLs considered “distributable code” under the MSFS SDK EULA?
- May we redistribute the unmodified DLLs with our free Windows connector?
- Does this also apply when the companion iOS application is commercial?
- Which license notices or files must accompany the DLLs?
- If redistribution is not permitted, what is the officially supported deployment method for users who do not have the SDK installed?
We will not distribute SDK source code, headers, tools, or sample projects.
We specifically need confirmation from an authorized Microsoft or Asobo representative.
