SDK Properties Polygon windows no longer opening automatically when selecting polygons

As of the SU4 update, the SDK Properties Polygon windows associated with individual polygons no longer open automatically when clicking on polygons. Does anyone know if this was a bug introduced in the recent update? If so, is there a workaround?

On the upside, the ability to now replace large collections of tree types “automatically” with a polygon that does not require a mask is a HUGE improvement that will make it make easier to correct fall foliage trees in places like Colorado, which are rather “pine-forest heavy” at the moment!

Thanks!

Please refer to the bug report message I sent titled “MSFS 2024 SU4 SDK changing/adding polygon properties after saving”, as these issues appear to be intertwined.

Thanks!

Hello,

Do you mean that the polygon properties aren’t updating when you click on another polygon with different properties?

I wasn’t able to reproduce the issue: I tested switching between two polygons, each using a different material, and the properties updated correctly.

It might be a side effect of this issue you mentioned: if all polygons have “Enable vegetation mask override” enabled when reloading the scenery, it could make it look like the Properties window isn’t changing when you select a different polygon.

Can you test with a different material on two different polygon ?

Let me know the results,

Regards,
Boris

No, I’m talking about properties automatically being “shown” when a polygon is selected. When I used to select on a polygon, all of its properties would automatically be shown in the properties window, and all of the proper drop-down menus within individual properties would automatically expand to reveal all of the “checked” properties. Now, when I click on a polygon, I have to hunt through and manually open each of the property drop-down menus to reveal the properties of the polygon. Now, once the properties are manually opened, they will stay open for the given polygon for the rest of the editing session. But once the file is closed, they have to be manually opened again on the next session. (image examples attached)

It’s not as serious as the other issue I referenced, where excludes are “added” to certain mask properties (which then need to be removed at the beginning of every new editing session), but it adds extra time hunting all those properties down, especially in combination with the new “exclude” issue which was introduced.

Thanks,
Carlyle

Hello,

Ok, I understand.

Since the polygon Properties window was revamped in SU4 and now uses sections, they don’t automatically expand based on the properties that are enabled.

I have created a task in our backlog (and tagging this topic as bug-logged) to automatically expand the relevant sections based on the enabled properties.

I will update this topic when I have more news to share on the progress.

Thank you.

Boris

I thought that might be what was going on, but thank you for addressing it nevertheless. If the team can find a way to make them open automatically again, that would be much appreciated!
