Bug description: During the development of the Mi-2 helicopter for MSFS2020, we encountered an unfortunate limitation of the simulator. We implemented realistic landing gear damping fully tied to our custom animations. However, these contact point parameters lead to severe performance degradation when taxiing over grass or uneven terrain.
The issue has a cumulative effect - performance does not recover even after takeoff or moving onto a smooth surface. While moving over grass/ground, performance decreases non-linearly, CPU core load increases, and FPS drops from around 60–70 down to 10–17. The core remains heavily loaded afterward, making further flight practically impossible.
We believe this may be related to an issue in the simulator’s contact point damping calculations.
