SimAttachments and Their Usage On Preexisting Aircraft

Howdy all,

Are there certain requirements/workflows for properly using the Sim Attachment Editor and/or related tools in DevMode?

Myself and a few others that I know of are attempting/have attempted to try and play around with the new included SimAttachments on default aircraft. However, I can’t seem to figure out how to “view” them and their position live within the sim for the purpose of adjusting their offset/PBH/scale. I thought I had seen something in the SDK about this ability, is anyone able to confirm if that is possible and/or how to go about that on a preexisting aircraft?

Understandably, there is the route of an additional model with attachment nodes, but that seems to still create a need to see the SimAttachment itself live in the sim for positioning.

Thank you,
Zach

The workaround I’ve been using is to create a box around the node I’m attaching the sim attachment to, then adjust the size of the box and export until I have a model/empty combination in Blender showing where they will go, isn’t tooo painful as the export only take about 20sec to show up in the sim.

Thanks @kcgb! That is a great idea — I will have to give that a try.

I’m thinking I misread the SDK in that there was a way to “live view” and “live position” an included SimAttachment. @FlyingRaccoon, by chance would you be able to confirm that?

Thank you,
Zach

Hello @ZachB

If you can find where you read that, I’m interested.

This is not available yet, but editing attachments position/rotation live in the Editor is being worked on as we speak.

Sylvain

Hi Sylvain,

Thank you very much for the confirmation. My misunderstanding was when reading the Sim Attachment Editor docs in the SDK.

Thank you again,
Zach
