SimVar to control piston engine power globally?

Hi all,

I’m looking for a SimVar that would allow me to control piston engine power globally—specifically something like engine mechanical efficiency or engine friction.
I’ve gone through all available piston engine-related parameters and SimVars but couldn’t find anything that seems to fit.
The goal is to simulate engine power loss when the A/C compressor is turned on in a piston-engine aircraft.
Has anyone come across a way to achieve this?

Thanks in advance!

Not aware of one that exists, but if anyone from Asobo is listening ( @FlyingRaccoon ), it would be wonderful to have such a simvar scalar that could be written to.

I also need a modification scalar to the engine mechanical efficiency and friction values.

Reasons:

  • Non linear relationship of MAP to torque
  • Engine damage
  • Oil viscosity
  • Parasitic loads
  • Turbo back pressure
  • Pumping losses
  • Variable valve timing and spark timing

I currently do this with input events, but that apparently only works in fs20 because its bugged

All great reasons to have this. It would be a sensible method to achieve any sort of situational power/efficiency loss.

Volumetric efficiency scalar also.

Also per engine so we can make each engine feel slightly different.

Also if this gets added then i can just set everything to “1” in the cfg and edit it live.
