Skinned livery parts not merging

Version: 1.5.27.0

Frequency: Consistently

Severity: Blocker

Marketplace package name: not applicable

Context: Kodiak 100, FS2024

Bug description: We have skinned the tail to include vibration animations and are getting a merging failure with the livery. When we add the tail livery to the aircraft, the aircraft cannot load at all.

As the tail is skinned, I had to export the tail decals together with the skeletal nodes, which already exist in the base model. Per submodel merging, the shared dummies will not merge, but skin and child parts will sit atop the hierarchy of the base model.

While it is set up like this in 3ds max, the merge fails.

Hello,

Following the conversation in PM.
Did you check the hierarchy and test exporting again using the SU4 SDK ?

Regards,
Boris

I haven’t put this to rest, tomorrow I will test all livery parts to see how it behaves and report back.

@Boris I was still unable to get the animations to work at all until I stopped exporting the dummies.

Once I only exported the geometry and root nodes, the model worked fine. The problem was duplicate animations, as the animation nodes existed in both the livery and the base model.

In the livery export documentation, it would be great if you specified that only the geometry should be exported.

Other than that, problem seems solved!
