[SU4] 1.6.25 SDK 1.5.6 camber difference or addition of degrees or radians

Version: *1.6.25 SDK 1.5.6

Frequency: Consistently*

Severity: *Low
(Low - quality of life, workflow optimization, rare enough to not impact production, etc…
High - critical but workarounds are available, important feature not working as expected, frequent enough to impact production
Blocker - prevents from working on the project, prevents from releasing the product)

Bug description:

Numerous discussions on other discord sites point to inconsistencies in how to set flap camber and wing camber.

Please update the docs (still wrong?) is it degrees or radians? Is it the difference or addition of the front and back angles.

Hello,

I just checked the documentation (SU4 flighting) :

What makes you think that the doc is wrong on this ?

Regards,
Boris

I did not make myself clear. I just want to verify that it is degrees for wing camber and radians for the flaps

Discussions on other discords suggest some devs use radians for wing camber. Not degrees.

Edit below

And to verify, that it’s leading edge angle minus trailing edge angle. The difference would be a negative number if reversed.

Hello,

We checked in the code and I can confirm that :

  • wing camber expects degrees
  • flaps camber expects radians

The angle of attack is generally considered positive when the wing is rotated to generate more lift.
In that reference frame, indeed, wing camber would therefore correspond more to trailing edge angle minus leading edge angle. A positive camber means a more “bulged” (more curved) wing profile.

Regards,
Boris
