Terraforming cuts into my taxiway

I am trying to create two ditches, one on each side of the taxiway. However when I do create them I create a large bump in my taxiway. I have tried to terraform with the polygon tool and the rectangle and get the same results. I got frustrated and moved to another part of my airport to try something similar and got the same results. I looked around here but cant find a similar post. Does anyone have any ideas if there is a way to fix this so that I can create a ditch on the sides of my taxiways?

Add a 3rd higher priority Rectangle with terraforming on your taxiway. That should smooth out the bump. You can use custom heightmap (2x2 works well for something like this) to make sure the height of each end of the rectangle aligns to existing height of the surrounding terrain. Use a relatively small falloff like 2-5m so you can still have the ditches on the sides.

Despite this workaround, I do agree that terraforming in general is still very buggy.
