Unknown scenery object warning persists

Version: 1.7.16.0 (SU5)

Frequency: Consistently

Severity: Low

Bug description:

I recently migrated my current 2020 airport project over to a 2024 native project. I am using an external library package for some assets and forgot to put a few of the new assets into the library beforehand. So, of course I got the usual ‘Unknown’ flag and warnings, as expected.

I have since added the missing models to the library, and they now show up in the scenery, however the warnings will not clear and the models are still named as ‘Unknown’ in the Scenery Editor. Even though these warnings would normally clear the next time I load the project.

I opened the project yesterday and all of the warnings were no longer there. So, this issue has seemed to resolve itself over time - maybe with a package clean. Unfortunately I don’t have an answer that is certain.

@darwikey Any explanation for this?

Hello @Rotornut44

This looks related to the cache in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\ModelLibCache.
Changes in modellib are not always triggering a clear of this cache. So the SceneryEditor fails to find objects that do exist, or on the contrary do not raise the warning when an object was removed from a library.

We will review this and make sure caches are correctly refreshed when a modellib is edited.
Thank you for pointing our attention on this.

Regards,
Sylvain
