Working today all of a sudden. Is there any way to have the update frequency higher as it updates the speed once every 3 seconds?

This is inherited from FSX as far as I can tell.
NAV DME is updated every 2 seconds
NAV DMESPEED is updated every 8 seconds
We will add this to the documentation.
The distance being displayed in nautical miles, that’s not much of an issue I assume.
As for the speed, are you trying to simulate a particular set of avionics that display this speed with a better frequency?

Yes we have a DME that shows nautical miles out. And with this variable we also display the ETA, time to VOR and speed in knots. But as you said and we know the time it updates effects all these displays.
