Create wear and tear effect on Taxiways/Aprons/Runways

Hi,

I’m trying to create a scenery of a local airport. In IRL reference images, the area near the yellow Taxi line is lighter than the rest of the taxi asphalt. I tried using aprons around the taxi marks to achieve it but it is a very tedious process and I am struggling to blend it properly.

Ideally I would just make my own asphalt texture with the middle part lighter than the rest but I don’t know how to make the SDK use the custom texture properly and I feel there will be major issues in turns so I think this is not a possibility.

Someone suggested using projectedmesh, but that involves creating a 3D model in blender and I think it will be hard to preview the effect of the mesh with effect on the taxiway while also blending it smoothly with the texture of the asphalt. Blender is also something I do not have much experience in.

Is there any other way that I can use to go about creating these taxi wear and tear effects?

The problem with making a texture with the middle part lighter is turns as you mentioned.

I recommend using a grunge projected mesh that will layer on top of the aprons or another projectedmesh with the asphalt.

I have used the apron method with a grunge material and also with the same asphalt used in the apron but lighter or darker, applying transparency and a good amount of falloff. The disadvantage of this method is that it cannot be drawn above lines and markings.
