Decal materials do not render on top of subsurface scattering materials

In SU1 and SU2, I have noticed that the Decal material does not appear when the mesh below it uses any of the material types supporting subsurface scattering (SSS, Hair, Sail). I’m not sure if this is a bug or intentional, but it would be great to see it working.

Example below is a really simple setup - the “base” mesh is duplicated, pushed out by 0.0001m, and given a Decal material.

Hi Asobo team,

This would be really nice to have resolved. Is there anything further we can add to either see this logged, or provide more assistance with debugging?

Thank you!

Hello @HughesMDflyer4 @DunNZ

By design we only support Decal for those materials :

  • Standard
  • Clearcoat
  • Anisotropic
  • Terrain
  • SSS : I have logged an issue regarding this material as it should support a decal material.

As for Sail and Hair, due to technical limitations, decal support is not possible.

Regards,
Boris
