Later this week, we will transition sign-in on the DevSupport forums to begin using Xbox Live accounts. This move will help us improve account security, give you more control over your data, and align with the official Microsoft Flight Simulator forums.
We understand many of you will want to retain your previous forum account’s historical data, posts, and interactions on the DevSupport forums, and we’ve created a process to merge your accounts.
Here’s are a few more details on what to expect:
After the transition is done, you’ll need to sign-in/create a new account on the DevSupport forums using your Xbox Live account.
We’ve set up a process to merge all data/interactions from your previous forum account with your Xbox Live account.
We’ll share instructions on how to merge your accounts following the transition.
Our goal is to ensure this process is as smooth and seamless as possible for every member of our community.
We will communicate about the planned migration date soon.
The only problem with this, is it prevents accessing the forums from mobile phones, you have to be at the computer / PC only so the logon process works.
This is a problem I have currently with MSFS forums, unless I am at a PC I am unable to post, vote, receive notifications, etc,. this is because the logon process fails on mobile devices.
As you must appreciate we monitor these forums constantly in order to answer anything you guys need at the moment of notice if any of you guys address our posts, so if we will be unable now to do it from our mobiles phones, it will be a bit more tricky, most of 3rd party developers like myself work at nights / late when your team is not at the office and we monitor the forums during our day time waiting for answers, and this is achievable via mobile devices. This is also useful for 3rd party developers that are on different time zones as EU, by the time you guys are answering a question or requesting more information about a bug, it will be evening or late night for some devs, but they are able to answer quickly to avoid delays from their mobile phones.
Do you think you guys could test if with this move the forums could work from mobile phones (Android / Apple)? and gives us some steps to make it work? it will really help, specially when we are away on leave, etc. and mobile phone access is the only way to access the platform.
You can use me as a test base for this, since it has never worked from my Android phone.
We’ve tested the staging version of devsupport on both Android and iPhones, and it’s working well.
Do you receive any specific error messages when you try to sign in to the forums?
I click login and I never get the chance to even enter any credentials, it just tells me that error… and I am unable to logon at all… nothing I can do to make it work… unless you know some secret I am missing? haha
Ok so incognito worked, and with this I troubleshooted the issue. I am logged on to hotmail.com with a different account and the MSFS forums refuses to let me login with an alternative live account.
So after logging out from hotmail.com the MSFS forums let me logon correclty, and then hotmail.com did allow me to logon with my hotmail ID.
So the issue seems to be the MSFS forums not allowing you to logon with an account you wish you use and instead detecting an Microsoft LIVE.COM account already logged in the browser, switching the order of the logon allowed everything to work.
After the maintenance, you will no longer be able to log in to your current account although everything you have posted will still be shown on the platform.
I’m sure this is related to the “Stay signed in” Hotmail function that has been completely broken logging into the flightsimulator.com domain since 2020.
You need to sign out of Hotmail and then sign in without that box checked for it to work.
