E:TIME OF DAY produces incorrect results

Bug description: E:TIME OF DAY is not following the documented logic:

  • 0 = dawn
  • 1 = day
  • 2 = dusk
  • 3 = night

It is offset by a lot and showing dusk early in the day.

Repro steps:

  1. Free flight / no real-time time
  2. Check the value of E:TIME OF DAY

Seems related to this: Time related simvars are mixed up

+1 to solve this.
We are using this variable in several MSFS 2020 planes to change the brightness of some displays (e.g. HUD in “AUTO” brightness mode)… and this does not work as expected in 2024.

A tip for MSFS2020: GLASSCOCKPIT AUTOMATIC BRIGHTNESS gives a better result for that purpose.

Thanks - good tip, although we have a big number of displays and changing all of them to use that variable may not be practical… but maybe worth trying in any case if this does not get fixed quickly…
