Enable reference to parking numbers other than the gates

Currently the only way to get a number for the parking space from ATC one
needs to make the parking space a gate which in its turn requires a jetway. My
airport does not have jetways (yet), but it has 18 numbered parkings. When I
myself or a traffic plane lands, we get instruction to taxi to a general
aviation parking, without any reference to number of that parking. This is
really unfortunate as if the player does not enable the taxi ribbon, he/she
could only guess where that parking is. especially given that we do have to
specify real world numbers to the parkings when editing the airport. I see two
ways out of the situation. One would be to introduce a new type of parking
where ATC would refer to such parkings with a number, or at least attach the
number to the current “taxi to the general aviation parking” instruction. Or
maybe there is another workaround that could be used in the current state of
things that I am unaware of?

Hello @ZdenniZ Apologies for the delay, for some reasons, this questions has
sliped under the radar  I don’t know if you managed to find an answer but
(in my su9 tests), we can delete the Jetway that comes with a Gate Did you try
it ?

In reality, ATC will only
ask the aircraft to taxi to the general aviation parking area without
specifying a number since most of the GA parking on airport don’t have any.
Feel free to post an idea on this subject Regards, Boris

“In reality, ATC will only ask the aircraft to taxi to the general aviation
parking area without specifying a number since most of the GA parking on
airport don’t have any.” I assume you meant “In the sim”, as opposed to “in
reality”? When I fly into an airport, depending on the airport, I’m usually
told specifically where to park. Typically, if there’s a tower at the airport,
usually that airport is busy enough that the FBO controls what planes go where
based on type and available spot, jets go here, little props go there, etc…
I’d love to see the ability to call out which airlines go to which spots, and
which type of planes go to which spots, etc, for both static and active AI
aircraft. Currently there is a size parameter for parking, but it only
controls the max size plane, whereas in reality, you would want it to control
the minimum size radius plane if I had to choose. Of course, technically, I’d
want to see a min and max parameter. Because, you’re right, sometimes it’s ok
to put a little plane at a big spot (but not at a jetway). Today, I’ll see
little planes in very large spots, either active AI or static. Sadly, I’ll
rarely see large planes fill my large GA spots as they should. Please also
delete the border around spots and allow spots to overlap with each other. To
that matter, is the static vs active AI distinction going to disappear, so
both follow the same rules eventually? Edit: Ooh, can we please get “FBO”
added as a radio channel/controller for aircraft as well at airports? And then
be able to assign specific spots to specific FBO’s, as there may be multiple
FBO’s at an airport.

Hello @FlyingsCool

I assume you meant “In the sim”, as opposed to “in reality”?

I was talking about IRL experience in Europe but indeed, it can be sometimes
different. ATC told us to taxi to the general aviation parking lot and that we
were free to take any parking space we wanted. As for the last part of your
comment, feel free to create an idea about it  Regards, Boris

In the U.S., typically, if I fly into any controlled airport like KLEB or
KACK, or even KASH, if the airport is my home airport, I have an assigned
spot, and if I am transient, Ground Control will tell me to contact the local
FBO (some airports like KMHT or KBDL have multiple FBO’s), and the FBO
controller will tell me exactly where to park (like we see in MSFS with a
Marshall). No matter if I’m there for an hour or days. In fact, they’ll ask me
how long I’m staying, and that will influence where they have me park. If it’s
uncontrolled, like KCON, then, yeah, if I’m only there for a few hours I can
park anywhere. If I’m going to stay overnight, I’ll contact the FBO and
they’ll assign me a spot. Even an airport as small as 2B2 Plum Island, the
airport manager will have a spot or area where they want me to park.
