Hello everyone. When I use an environment occluder for the buildings of the airport I designed in Blender, i am having some issues with shadowing in foggy weather and objects appearing unrealistic from a distance in the game. When I remove the environment occluder, there are no issues. What am I possibly missing? Thank you in advance for your help. Here is an example of it.
remove enviroment occluder in a further LOD= use env occluder on LOD0 only–and make sure when you are outside of the building you are switching to LOD1
mamu thank u very much for your answer. I will try it as soon as possible and share the result.
I have given up on using environment occluder in sceneries. The behavior changed a while ago, and now they also remove the ground if they touch it, in addition to that fog issue.
That’s correct. Also, even if you put it in a farther LOD, during foggy conditions like this you will notice obvious “popping in” of the LOD0 with the occluder. There’s the ground removal issue, there are also particular grass issues. I figured it was basically better to just let it rain inside, you only notice that if you look at the ground while you’re starting in a hangar, it’s less apparent than the other issues.
I followed Mamu’s suggestions. I’ve made some progress. Now the buildings don’t look unrealistic from the outside. However, when I enter and exit the occluder area, it looks like it does in the photo. I think the best option is to avoid using an occluder. Thank u all btw.
Yep, that’s the other flaw in environmental occlusion. I had a hangar starting spot in one of my airports where you start inside a hangar with environmental occlusion, and you’re looking towards another hangar that has environmental occlusion. The hangar in the distance gives you a glaring visual flaw when you’re looking at it from inside an occlusion, particularly in snowy conditions. All in all it’s just better to let it rain inside, the best you can do is remove snow from the interior of your building by making it a separate no snow object.
