- FYI if it matters to your fix: My issues with the fspackagetool failing with spaces in the project path started when I reinstalled the sim after leaving the SU8 beta, not SU9. Worked fine after removing spaces, so I don’t think I reported it.
Hi Sylvain, I checked this out and incredibly it worked!! Just that one tiny
file was causing all of those problems for me. Can’t believe it, and I don’t
even know how it got there, maybe a mis-click of the mouse or something. Who
knows? As all four jets have individual loc files, and they’re all the same
name, it’s pretty hard to tell without opening them up and looking - I’d never
have thought of that. Thanks for saving me from myself once again! Best
wishes, Dean
I’m glad to learn this solved all your issues! We have made the error messages
a bit clearer and consistent about this in SU10. Regards, Sylvain
changing to a path with no spaces did indeed fix that part of the problem. But
having to move that splash screen out of the way and its subsequent erroneous
error message is really annoying
I notice too that as part of this error you cannot run the package tool while
the sim is loaded, it closes immediately - probably part of the sim thinking
“the game is already running” This is awful, i dont want to use the builder in
the sim due to all the prior errors introduced where sometimes you had trouble
forcing the builder to pick up the latest changes. I want a clean build so
delete the previous packed to ensure its rebuilt. So now i have no choice but
to close the sim every time i want to build. Its a workflow nightmare.
Hello everyone. An update on this: the problem has been identified. It only
occurs with a retail MS Store version and is caused by the MS Store launcher
modifying the arguments. That’s causing the space handling problem and the
error splashscreen. Microsoft has been notified. Regards, Sylvain
Would the easiest solution at this point to be to buy a copy on Steam in order
to bypass the MS Store version which has the issue? I’m happy to buy another
copy to make life easier, but would rather know for sure before spend another
£50 on another copy.
Any update on this from Microsoft? Still have to keep switching my SDK folder
name from ‘with space’ to ‘without space’.
