Bug description: If you load any legacy 2020 aircraft that uses Jet A and uses the modern [FUEL_SYSTEM] in the 2024 sim, the variable FUEL WEIGHT PER GALLON shows 6.0. Should be about 6.7
Conclusion:
Legacy fuel system is working!
Modern fuel system has wrong weight for fuel type A.
Looking forward to a fix. I tested with the 2024 1.3.10.0 beta!
by any chance do you have this above your Fuel_system which tells it what fuel to use? i also see here that the weights are correct on my end as well. but i do know if you dont use what i put down below in the modern fuel system and tell it what gas to use, itll use regular 100 octane fuel (default) which gives you the 6lbs a gallon
I will remind you guys that this bug is for 2020 aircraft that use the modern fuel system NOT legacy. And the 2020 SDK states when using the modern fuel system it still requires the fuel type data to be in the [FUEL] section for the cfg file. So, you have two category entries as seen here in the SDK notes. [FUEL] for the fuel type and [FUEL_SYSTEM] for the fuel logic. Try testing any 2020 aircraft that uses the modern fuel system and Jet A.
So in the new 2024 all the data is now in a single category. So this is just another bug that the backwards compatibility needs to be fixed since it’s not in a single category.
What I showed was for a 2020 airplane that uses the modern fuel system. (You should be able to tell that from my screenshot of the SimVar Watcher.) As required by the 2020 SDK, the fuel type is specified as Jet A in the [FUEL] section. The bug does not exist for our 2020 airplanes used in 2024. They adhere to the 2020 SDK instructions and work just the same way in 2024 when the airplanes are dropped into the community folder.
In 2020 ours reads 6.9 and 2024 reads 6.0.
So, we are going to try removing comments. We are going to also test more aircraft. This is odd that it works for you.
Alright, I found it. It is a bug. I noticed that you have your fuel system version set to latest, while ours is set to “4.” I tried latest, and indeed the fuel density changes to 6.0. I tried “5,” which is not listed in the 2020 SDK, but contains the same description as “4” in both the 2020 and 2024 SDKs, and that worked fine. So I tried “6,” which is not listed in either SDK, and there is turned to 6.0.
Moral of the story I guess is to use the version number that your fuel system was tested on and works correctly (including the correct fuel density).
Hopefully, this bug will be fixed and a description of the changes to fuel system version 6 will be added to the pertinent SDK(s).
I just wanted to let you know we also found the bug and changed version = latest to version = 4 as that is what we also have listed at the top of this cfg file.
Just came to let you and ASOBO know we fixed the issue.
The immediate issue is solved for you, but Asobo should know that the latest version of the fuel system code, which is not documented in the SDK for us developers, indeed has a bug in it that needs to be corrected.
But that will need to be another bug report. I also agree there are other fuel issues and I plan to look into that soon. This report needs to be posted solved. Did anyone report yet?
I think Got friends asked me as the fuel transfer was not working for one of his projects. And I have had reports on the same issue with our Lear.
Take your time in doing so. The longer it is up here, the better the chance that Asobo will see it and log it as I doubt that anyone will open a new bug report just to contain the same information present in this thread.
This is really not a bug in the OP’s airplane as it would be fine if there was no bug in Asobo’s latest version of the fuel system.
