Grass exclusion not respected in 2020 scenery

Version: * 1.0.77.0*

Frequency: Consistently

Severity: Low

Marketplace package name: not yet submitted

Context: Grass exclusion using apron Grass texture color is not working

Bug description:

Grass was removed from under concrete tile objects by setting Coloration on Grass02 texture under the tile. In 2024 the grass is not affected at all by the Coloration setting.

Can you advise if this is not planned to be respected by 2024 for 2020 packages (and if so, what method works in both)?

Repro steps:

2024 (using 2020 built package):

2020:

Spawn at airport, observe.

The post is very clear. Look at the base area with the benches. I’m sure he tried to exclude grass there and it won’t exclude. I do believe this bug was reported elsewhere though.

Right, to make this bit of scenery look like that in the native 2024 project, I had to do two things:

  • Change the material under the concrete tiles from grass2 (with gray coloration that suppresses the grass in 2020) to a tarmac material (that suppresses the grass in 2024)
  • Remove the bumps in the terrain using a big polygon with option “exclude secondary height maps”. I think this is a new option for 2024, since it doesn’t exist in 2020 how will MSFS 2024 know to not produce this uneven terrain on 2020-built airports?

Are you using Opacity in Aprons ? If yes, check my post here about Opacity must be > 128 on Aprons made for 2020, otherwise grass will show up.

I was waiting for a reply to know if this is the intended behavior (requiring to change opacity to always be at least 128 on all Apron of all sceneries we made and submitted them all again to the Marketplace) or it’s supposed to be fixed.
